We went camping in Decorah again this year. The kids have been asking to go all summer and we finally had a free weekend right before school started. Tate wasn't with us, because he went camping/fishing with one of his friends. And this year the Schultz's came with us! Neither one of our families are what you would consider a camping family, but we can do anything for one night- and that's what makes it fun!
We got to Decorah later in the afternoon. We got one of the last spots in the campground, and it was a great spot. It was right by where the river joins with the little creek- so the kids were playing around in the water for a lot of the evening.
We got the tents set up with no problem and started a fire to make supper. We made hotdogs and the sandwich maker things you put on the fire and filled them with various toppings. We of course had s'mores and a ton of other snacks.
I don't think any of us slept the best in the tents. It was chilly and it gets so damp and uncomfortable, and about the middle of the night I start to question if this is really fun or not. But we made it to morning!
We ate a quick breakfast, packed up the tents and everything else, and headed out to a little waterfall/hiking area in Decorah. It was so pretty and the kids loved hiking around. Then we went to the fish hatchery and went into town for lunch and ice cream.
We had perfect weather and such a good time with friends! It is something the kids love to do and will always remember. This year was more fun because of the friends that came along with us!
