Nebraska

This past weekend we spent 4 days in Nebraska.  Wooohoo! No, seriously, it was fun.  We had a wedding to attend at Lincoln on Saturday, so we decided to make a long weekend of it.

Our babysitter that we had for a couple years in Georgia got married and we were more than happy to be able to go and celebrate with her.  We loved her as a babysitter and the kids loved her too!

We arrived in Lincoln on Friday and went to the Children's Museum.  It was a great place for the kids to run around for a couple of hours.  Then we checked into our hotel and found a place to eat.  After eating and walking and sweating, we all went swimming at the hotel.  For some reason, the kids love to swim at hotels, but I have to drag them to the pool on any other day.

Whenever we say we want to take a picture, he kneels down like this.  Ha!

The next morning was more swimming and then we walked around the market at Lincoln.  It is a way cool place and a neat city.  Then we headed back to get dressed to go to the wedding and the reception.  The wedding was beautiful and in a beautiful church.  The reception was also very nice and the kids were out dancing for a couple of songs before we left.

The next morning we headed over to Omaha and to the zoo.  It is a great zoo and we had a perfect day for it.  The weather was beautiful!

Our hotel we stayed at in Omaha had an awesome waterslide and kids waterpark area.  The kids could not get enough of the waterslide!  Even Troy was loving it, which kind of surprised me.  They went down no less than 500 times.  We were at the pool for hours!  Even the next morning we had to go to the pool for a couple of hours before we checked out.

To help make the time pass on the way there and for some entertainment for the kids, we said for every hour we were in the car and they didn't argue or whine, they would get a $1 to spend.  We also told them if they found a Maine or Oregon license plate, we would give them each $5.  They earned $3 for not whining/arguing on the way there and they did find a Maine plate!  (this idea came from a friend of mine and I thought it was great, so we used it!)  Adria asked when we were telling them about the license plate if they each got $5 even if they weren't the one to spot it.  We said yes, and she says "ok, I 'm not going to look then- I will just let Tate do it".  Haha!  Typical of her!

Joe and I were also joking that our previous summer trips were usually to Hilton Head or some beach.  This year was Nebraska.  Ha!  That's ok.  This is the season in our life to discover all that the Midwest has to offer!  We had a good time!
