Iowa Visit!

Ok, I am waaaaaay behind on blogging because we have been in Iowa for 2 1/2 weeks and have been super busy! But, we had a lot of fun and spent tons of time with family and met up with lots of friends, so the time flew by.

I flew up by myself with the kids from Atlanta to Moline while Joe stayed here and worked. My mom picked us up from the airport in Moline and the kids dropped their bags and ran towards her when they saw her. So cute. I was a little nervous flying up with 3 kids by myself, but the kids did great and Tate was a big help in the Atlanta airport.

While in Iowa we celebrated Tate's birthday with cupcakes at the park, we met with friends at the Cedar Falls pool, met friends at the Parkersburg park, went to the Parkersburg pool with both grandmas and cousins, and hung out with my sister while she was here and Joe's sister and her family. The kids loved seeing their cousins and hanging out with them.

The next week Joe drove up by himself. When he got here we went to the Quad Cities to meet up with the Graves and the Hodens. We were hoping a Graves baby would join us that day too- but no such luck! Loved getting together with them and we had a great time. We also met up with some of my girlfriends from the QC. It was good to catch up with them also.

We also got together with our small group from our church when we lived in Iowa. We had SO much fun and it was great catching up with everyone. There was tons of laughing involved! We saw some old neighbors and the kids enjoyed seeing the kids from our old neighborhood. The kids walked in everyone's house and made themselves at home like we never even moved!

We spent a lot of time with both of our families and it was great just to hang out. Joe and I got a lot of alone time, too, which was AWESOME. And the one thing I love about all of our groups of friends is that no matter how much time has passed since we saw each other last, when we get together we get right back into our groove!

Oh, and let's not forget some of the most important things I did in Cedar Falls- got my hair done at Jiva and ate a ton of Scratch cupcakes!

Then comes the 15 hour drive home. We left Waterloo at about 3:00 in the afternoon and arrived at our house at about 7:30 in the morning. My mom made the trip back with us to spend some time with us at our house before she has to go back to work. The kids did great on the drive home and slept most of the night so that made the trip easier. (it also helped that my mom was in the back of the van so she had to answer all the kids question and requests and I could sit up front and pretend I couldn't hear them!)

Here are a few pictures of our time in Iowa:
