Iowa Trip

We just got back from 2 weeks in Iowa to visit our family and friends.  It was such a good trip and we loved seeing everyone.  The kids were so excited to get there and see the grandparents!  Actually, excited is an understatement.  They couldn't wait to get up to Iowa and all Tate wanted to do and all he could talk about was riding his dirt bike.

We left on Friday after Joe got off work and drove through the night and arrived in Iowa the next morning.  The kids did ok in the car and slept on and off.  Adria is a champ in the car and slept the whole time.  Troy melted down about 45 minutes away from Parkersburg and wanted to get out of his car seat.  We were sooooo close!

We were able to help my parents celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary and my Dad's 60th birthday while we were up there.  My sister and her family were there too and we had a nice get-together at my parents house with their friends and family to help them celebrate.  It was a good time and fun to see everyone.

Tate had a blast riding the dirt bike and made about 3000 trips around my parents yard.  He started to get brave and go faster and find some bumps to go over.  They even made a few trips out to the country so he could go farther and go over a few more bumps.  He loved it.  And he loved riding the motorcycle with my dad around town.  And he loved playing with his cousins at Joe's parents house.  They had many games of soccer going on and a lot of video game playing.  And he was happy that he got to celebrate his 8th birthday in Iowa!

Adria had a great time playing with her cousin Ellie.  They are the same age and do everything together when they are at Nana and Papa's house.  Adria enjoyed riding the dirt bike also, but Joe had to ride it with her.  They also enjoyed some fishing and Adria was catching them left and right.  And she enjoyed riding the motorcycle with my mom and dad.

She liked to help with Finley and groom and walk him.

And Troy loved everything.  He loved riding the lawn mower.  He loved riding the motorcycle.  He loved the fishing.  He loved helping Nana walk and feed the dog and cat.  He loved playing on the ipad with Papa.  I was happy because he really remembered the grandparents and was completely at home when we got there.  That is why I love Skype!

Joe and I even got a night away and enjoyed dinner with friends and stayed at a hotel/casino.  It was fun.  We also got to see most of our old neighbors and our friends from church.  It was fun that we got to see most of our siblings and most of our nieces and nephews.  It felt great to be there and spend time with our families and friends.  It was also good to see both of my grandmothers.

On our way back to Georgia, we split the trip into two days.  We drove down to my sisters and spent the night and then the next day we met up with a friend in Tennessee for a late breakfast. We were sooooo ready to be home and the drive seems to get longer every time.  All I wanted to do was get home and sleep in my own bed....... and then we come home to our air conditioner not working.  Not what we wanted to be dealing with when we got home, but we got it fixed that night and got a good night's sleep.

We had a great trip and the kids had a great time.  Too bad we are sooooo far away!
