Lake of the Ozarks

Our vacation this summer was a family trip to the Lake of the Ozarks.  We have never been down there, and it is closer for my sister and her family, so we decided to meet up there and spend a week at a resort.  We had so much fun!  This was the first time my family got to meet the two older kids my sister and her husband are fostering.  We had a great time with all of the kids and getting to know them and having the cousins play together.

We all arrived on a Saturday and we rented 2 cabins to hold all of us.  The resort was really nice and we were right on the water.  We had a nice sitting area and a couple of nice docks to fish off of.  There were also 2 nice swimming areas that we had mostly to ourselves and a fun water trampoline.  The resort had a fun game room that we spent a lot of time in.  We also rented jet skis a couple of the days, and that was fun to zip around on the water.  The fishing wasn't the greatest, but the boys reeled in a huge one on one of the nights!  It was so big, and kind of gross, and we didn't keep it because it wasn't a good fish to eat.  But it sure was exciting for them to reel in!

On one of the days during the week we went hiking at Haha Tonka state park.  It was super hot and we were all dripping and drenched by the time we got done with our couple hours out there.  The park was really pretty and had a lot of great trails and things to see.

The rest of the week was spent swimming, playing games, riding jet skis, relaxing, making smore's, and watching fireworks.  Some of us went shopping at an outlet mall on one of the days and we found some neat places to eat on a couple of the nights.  The weather was super hot, but we were in the water a lot, so that was ok!  We had fun just being together as a family!
