Busy, Busy

We have been quite busy around here lately, but it has been fun!  The weather is still really hot, but not as bad as it had been.  We have only been going to the pool about once a week because of school and activities.  We had the pleasure of Joe's brother, Derek, visiting us for a couple weekends because he is now stationed in North Carolina, and is only about 5 hours away from us.  We have never been so close to them!

Troy is keeping us hopping!  He is crawling around and into EVERYTHING.  It's funny how you kind of forget how much stuff they get into.  He goes crazy when we Skype the grandparents and attacks the computer.  His little temper has emerged, like when I take something away from him or do something he doesn't want.  He loves eating "real" food and likes about everything.  The other day he ate a lemon without flinching.  I'd like to say we have had some good quality time together the mornings the kids are at school, but he sleeps most of the time, so it's just me (which isn't all bad either :).

Adria loves her preschool.  Loves it.  She is so excited to go to school in the morning and thinks its fun when she has homework.  Her fear of dogs is consuming her right now, since two pit bulls chased her down the street a couple weeks back.  Every time she sees a dog she either starts crying and wants to be held or runs in the house.  Hope she gets over that soon.  And she is really into her Dora matching game and Candyland.  We play one of them every.single.night. before they go to bed.

Tate is enjoying kindergarten.  It took him a week or two to really start to like it, but that's just how he is.  I knew when he got comfortable riding the bus and got to know his teachers and classmates and how things work, that he would really start to like it.  It just takes him time.  Now he comes home in a good mood and I can tell he had a good day.  He seems pretty tired at night though.  And he started soccer this week.  I don't think he really wanted to play, but I had already signed him up, so I told him we had to do this season.  There are two brothers on his team that are really naughty and loud and mouthy.  They are always tackling the other kids and not listening to the coach (and, of course, the parents are not around.  Go figure.  They just drop their 6 year olds off and come get them later. Nice.)  And sometimes it makes the other little boys wild and misbehave, too.  Not Tate, though.  I am so proud of him.  He listens to the coach and ignores the other boys.  There are moments when I think, yeah, maybe my parenting is paying off.  Tonight at soccer was one of those moments.  I pray all the time for Tate to have good character and do what is right.  He's a good kid.

Joe started a marketing class at Augusta State and it is one of his last three to finish up his masters.  It is taking up a lot of his time and I know he will be glad when this masters thingy is done.

We are trying to think of something to go and do this labor day weekend.  We thought about the mountains, camping, the beach, Atlanta or just driving down to Savannah to eat.  We will see!  I love all the opportunities to do things down here that are only a few hours away. (but I still miss Iowa a lot!)
